mySQL problems on large phpbb board

[edit]1.5 hours ... still no bids??? I've been experiencing some strange behavior on my phpbb board (which received 200 posts per day). Examples include 2 moderators getting deleted from the database (I brought them back using a db backup), and the link to the last post or the last page number of a thread resulting in a "there are no posts for this topic" error message (although today everything is fine). In addition, I also get a table that becomes corrupt every so often (maybe once every 10 days) and I have to restore it. Sometimes a simple "repair table" will fix it. When I "check table" in phpmyadmin, there will sometimes be messages like "3 connections not closed properly". Restarting mysql will sometimes fix this as well. As you can see, I have a little insight into fixing these problems, but I am looking to get help establishing some additional solutions to guard against data loss and errors. **I need someone who has experience with mysql and phpbb, and who can help me to put some procedures or code in place that helps the forums run smoothly.** I don't exactly know what to ask for from coders.
