python rewrite to java

I have a small Python application (396 lines of nice clean self-documenting code - a small sample of it is attached). The app uses GDAL ([login to view URL]) to read Shape Files (the famous ".shp" format, see [login to view URL]) and uses SqlLite to read and write the same data in a database format. I need the application rewritten as follows: - Keep the exact same functionality. - Remove all the Python code and replace with Java. - Remove the SqlLite usage and replace with MySQL. - Remove the GDAL library and replace with pure Java code (*) (*) For this last point. I want pure Java without C libraries. Please do a Google search for "shapefile java parser" to find many free libraries. I do not have experience with these Java libraries which you may find, so, if you use any free code you will need to review it and test it to make sure it works. Or you could just write your own parser by using the specs at [ [login to view URL] ]. If you do decide to use a free library, you need to post the link for me to review it, before the project starts. ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows? (depending on the nature? of the deliverables): a)? For web sites or? other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment. b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software? installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement). ## Platform Java 1.6+
