We need a news ticker plug-in for the JW Player. The idea is to replicate a typical news ticker that you would see on a news program. Please see the attached image.
The plug-in should function similar to the Newsticker plug-in ([login to view URL]) that is currently available on the Longtail Video website.
Your version of the news ticker should:
1. Read messages from an XML configuration file and scroll them across the bottom of the JW Player after it loads.
Requirements:
a. The news ticker messages should be read from an XML file ([login to view URL] – see below
2b).
b. The news ticker should loop through all of the messages continuously.
c. The news ticker messages should be separated by two spaces, a dash, and two more
spaces. Example: (message - message)
d. The news ticker should start scrolling as soon as the video player is loaded.
e. The news ticker should scroll the messages regardless of the player state (stopped,
paused, playing, etc).
f. The news ticker background should be a partially transparent. See the current plug-in
for an example.
2. The news ticker should have two configuration files:
a. [login to view URL] – Configuration options for the news ticker plug-in.
i. ScrollSpeed: Numerical value representing the speed of the scrolling message.
1. POSSIBLE VALUES: 1 -5 with 1 being the slowest and 5 being the
fastest.
2. DEFAULT VALUE: 2
[login to view URL]: Size of the text in the message.
1. POSSIBLE VALUES: 8px – 20px in increments of 2px.
2. DEFAULT VALUE: 10px
TextColor: Color of the message text.
iii.
1. POSSIBLE VALUES: Any hex color value.
2. DEFAULT VALUE: #FFFFFF
Pause: Determines whether the scrolling message pauses on hover.
iv.
1. POSSIBLE VALUES: true or false
2. DEFAULT VALUE: true
b. [login to view URL] – The XML feed containing the news ticker messages. There should not
be a limit on the number of messages that can be entered.
i. Text: Message text. There should be no character limit.
[login to view URL]: URL that the user is taken to if they click on the message.
The source code for the current plug-in on the Longtail video page is available on their website at [login to view URL] if you would like to use it as a template.
