I think the adequate price for this item should be five dollars with bonus marks for answering the second question.
Here's some background: every day, my maids come to my room and turn off my fans.
I have a Mitsubishi LV16-RT
Usually I'm out of my room for up to a few hours, sometimes less and I come back to a sweltering hot room because my fans have been turned off.
Now, my maids are probably thinking this is great for conservation of energy.
Anyone who has gone to school and maybe studied some physics knows that you use a great amount of energy powering up these fans.
So, your job is to find out what the average hourly energy use is and what amount of energy it takes to power up the fan in the short 10 seconds that it takes to get the fan started.
Bonus marks if you can illustrate that starting the motor actually contributes to wear and tear.
Good luck!
