Your team has identified an opportunity and completed some preliminary work assessing said opportunity. This includes exploring and developing potential business models - how an organization creates, delivers and captures value (Steve Blank). In addition, through the textbook, podcasts, media stories and additional readings, participants have explored many of the actions, strategies and tools that founders of new businesses employ to increase their likelihood of success (remember - most new ventures fail). Each team should prepare a professional quality business document explaining the opportunity identified and assessing it based on the tools and concepts explored in class - this is not an academic paper. This is a professional business document. There will not be space in this professional document to include all concepts, ideas, and approaches covered throughout this semester. Each team must select those items/elements it deems most important in communicating the feasibility of the opportunity. If more information is needed that should also be explained in the document where appropriate. Concepts that may be included in this professional business document: - VISION - MISSION - SWOT and KSF - COMPETITIVE ANALYSIS - CUSTOMER SEGMENTATION AND MARKET SIZE - STRATEGY (COST, DIFFERENTIATION, NICHE) - GUERILLA MARKETING - IMAGE / PRICING - BREAK EVEN ANALYSIS - CAPITAL/STARTUP NEEDS/CASH FLOW NEEDS - FINANCIAL STATEMENTS !!!!!! my part!(- LOCATION CHOICES !!!! my part- ONLINE/MOBILE !!!! my part- SOCIAL IMPACT !!!! my part- TIMELINE / YEAR OR TWO OF COSTS, INCOME, ETC. !!!! my part- CONCLUSION/ROAD AHEAD (WHAT WOULD BE NEXT STEPS?) Each team’s write up should be between 14 and 20 pages and may have appendices (eg break even analysis, sample menu of services, data collected during customer engagement/MVP testing, pro-forma financial statements for first year or two, competitive analysis). The look and feel of the document should represent the opportunity being explored, the industry and the approach that would be expected of a professional organization in that market (remember brading and USP) While this document is not a business plan - it should include elements that would go in a traditional business plan - examples include a table of contents, page numbers, charts/graphs/images and other non text features that assist business professionals in communicating important ideas and opportunities. This is a professional business document and the presentation of the material will be taken into account during grading.
