The task at hand is to create a tool which compares a “before?? image which contains no smoke to a companion “after?? image which contains smoke, and arriving at an opacity.? This task is to be an examination of the correlation/relationship between the opaque image layer and opacity.? You will be provided a test image set of a before and after images, and a viewing.? Your task will be to create an algorithm that automatically and iteratively manipulates the opaque layer, then checks to see if the composite image still contains traces of smoke.? Then report the % of the opaque layer when the smoke is completely attenuated in the composite image.? There is a set of 42 white smoke image pairs and 40 black smoke image pairs.? The filenames are the actual opacities.
## Deliverables
Task Overview:
To do this task you can either have the user establish a ROI (Rectangle of Interest) using the UI or if at all possible be able to calculate opacity without a ROI.?
What is provided:
1. Visual Studio 2008 C# WPF application
2. Test Images
Procedural Specification:
1. User Downloads zip file containing application and test images
2. User Compiles application
3. User Opens tools to find filmstrip of test images
4. User can use the Process This Image Button
5. User can use the Process All Images Button.
6. Both buttons call User defined function that has an Algorithm then systematically and incrementally turns the smoke image less opaque, and compares the composite to the “clear?? baseline (edge detection possibly, or direct pixel to pixel comparison) until the smoke can’t be seen/detected
7. Algorithm reports %of transparent image layer.? The algorithm must be within a variance of +/- 5%;
