I need a small JavaScript that will capture two lines of data from a kiosk form. The kiosk does not (and cannot) run a web server. The pages reference each other by filename. I have VERY little experience working with scripting so I will need help putting the code in the correct place. The submit for the java should be saved to a local text file on the root of the machine. No Internet access is available. The submit button is a graphic and after recording the data, needs to redirect to the index page. If there is an alternative to JavaScript I am open to suggestions.
====NEW INFO====
I guess I left out some information so I will post this to everyone. The machine is running XP home edition so no ASP. The kiosk is currently in place and running just without the form so no major changes to the system. This would include installing a web server, hacking in ASP from 2000, or any modification that could affect the machines ability to run. I have to be very careful about how I perform maintenance, as this machine is over 300 miles (480 KM) away. The only access to this machine is through a dialup backdoor to a server and relay on a 56K frame pipe. The kiosk can see this Internet but it is slower than a 14.4 connection. The Internet connection is not reliable at best so no Internet availability for this project. I also don’t want any conformation boxes for saving data to the text file.
==== NEW INFO V2====
Okay so the feedback I am getting is that this cannot be done using JavaScript as JS does not write to the drive and that Active X is the way to go. So with that in mind, I obviously put this under the wrong category. If anyone is still interested in doing this project using Active X please let me know.
