FileMaker Pro 10 Business Productivity Kit - Tweaks
------------------------------------------------
1.? include portal in inventory table (maybe from a dedicated price and size table) that will display pricing for type variations. for example widget may come in several variations (e.g. 2x2x4 inch, 2x2x4 inch , 2x2x7 inch, 2x3x9 inch) these would display in portal as a table with the following fields : an inventory ID, a supplier ID, Length, Width and Height, as well as 3 price options based on order size. e.g. for 2x2x2, $1.25 for a single unit purchase, $12.00 for a pack (10 units per) and $100 for a case (10 packs). (i want to be able to define/control the quantity categories)
?
2.? manage portal table data (add/delete possible sizes, etc) from inventory page (e.g. widget size 2x2x7 no longer in production so i delete it via portal table)
?
3. manage mimimum order size for each product. i dont know all the ways this will impact scripts etc the sales order form but i am sure it should.
?
4. add multiple (browsable) images for each inventory product
?
5. to clean up (delete) any redundant fields in the inventory table that are duplicated in the portal
6.? i need to distinguish between purchase orders re: stocking up from suppliers v/s customers buying from me. b/c custmer sales in inventory should be decremented or flagged as soon as a sale is completed, while inventory restock, cant be incremented till actual delivery and restocking.
## Deliverables
the databases in the business productivity kit are linked by scripts, etc. it is important that any changes described above are propagated thru the tables. i dont think these are many, mainly in the saless order form, such as in selecting and pricing calculations (i.e. recognize the minimum order constraints i set, etc) distinctions between sales and restocking purchase orders, and different flagging/updating of inventory per restock or sale? as decribed in the specs.? i include the template files for the business productivity kit (BPK) though it can be downloaded from filemaker site.
i would also like some input on the issue of how best to handle the fact that a single product (inventory ID) can be supplied by multiple suppliers (supplier IDs) at different costs without duplicating/tweaking records in the database. it should be possible to simply capture and manage the changes between suppliers without copying the entire record.
