I am looking for Active Server Pages (ASP) script/documentation to identify users currently online like [login to view URL]
We have a script running but have some problems. We are trying to meet the following challenges...
1) We want to avoid using session as when we have a large number of concurrent users, it will drag down the performance of the server.
2) Currently we are using session, but if user does not log off but closes browser, it yet shows that user to be currently online. We cannot kill session after some time, as some of our users are on the site for a long time.
We want advice or script on how to handle the above two points. Is there any other better and accurate methodology to track users currently online. Note - I am not looking for how many users are online, but status for each user that is online.
