E-voting/ E-government system Technology ASP/ MYSQL Security/ Registration/Login procedure Highly secure login/logout procedure following user identification authentication i.e. name, pin number, postcode, secure id (secure id created upon registration) (presumed these users already exist on a electro role) etc User registration – check against an electro role (this can be mimicked) check that person exists and has the right to vote, is a citizen and above the age of consent (services are only available to those eligible to vote) Candidate registration – For potentially candidates, time limited i.e. to declare your self as a candidate you have two days, special key issued here for candidates Each voter must have his identity protected this information must be secure and hack proof (services must guarantee the confidentiality) Some type of encryption cryptography must be used Basic Voting process 1/ List of x amount of candidates 2/ Clickable links from candidate name to detailed profile – i.e. popup which should include picture, video, text 3/ Next to candidate name radio button user selects candidate here 4/ Submit vote 5/ Confirm vote 6/ Thank vote recorded 7/ Option to display current result (turn off by default) 8/ log user out automatically (ten seconds) Things to consider here: 1) start date/time of voting / end date/time of voting this must be secure so voting is fair i.e. voting starts at 9.00 am closes at 9.00pm 2) No one can vote more than once, users who try are logged. 3) User cannot refresh or go back in webpage automatically log out Admin section 1/Create/delete/edit poll 2/Add/delete/edit candidates 3/Add/delete/edit voters 4/Various variables i.e. control poll dates/times, candidate registration time limit 5/ View all poll activity i.e. current result, number of votes cast – where from location, device (WAP, I.E) 6/ Security section – verify candidates before listing, voter's who tried to vote twice, failed logins, back up database 7/ Final results – verify results, publish results to results section (after poll), sent result to each voters e-mail address note: do not show results to users until the poll has finished there should be an option in admin for this like a real election Candidate section Note: candidates are allow to vote once as well 1/ private login section – using key (above) and login info 2/ edit/delete candidate details – stand down (must be before poll starts) 3/ create/ edit candidate profil
