I have recently moved to Staten Island and I frequently, about 2-4 times per week, take the trip over to Manhattan merely to explore and become familiar with the area. I will walk for hours at a time, instead of taking the metro, in order to see all of the details along the way to my destination. In many ways, this job is so perfectly tailored to my normal schedule that it could only enhance my current experience of the city. And with a place like New York City, there are constantly new details to account for with a constant stream of tourists always trying to use apps or online maps that can help them navigate. Based upon the project description, I can see that you need someone perceptive and empathetic to the needs of many different people as they traverse the city--you need someone who is thoughtful about the lay of the land and the ways in which it may affect the average person. This, I can most certainly be. My plan is to map out several different paths throughout the city, one for each day of exploration, that will include the most ground I can possibly cover. With each of these, I would note any irregularities or missing pieces of information on a map, and then create a comprehensive list of helpful additions, complete with addresses and time-frames.
