This project is for the design of code and graphics (you can do one or the other, or both) for a character generation program much like those found in the various 3D MMORPG's available today. To sum up the end result, a user should be able to select a starting model from a group separated by race and gender. From there the user can customize elements of the model to their individual tastes (such as height/weight/build, apparent age, hair color and style, facial features, etc.) The final model needs to be 'dressed' from a variety of clothing/armor/weapons, etc. and then posed - either freely posable, or a selection from many pre-made poses. Once this is finished, the entire character model needs to be exported as a stereolithography (.stl) file, with all details in polygon form (not relying on textures). The final model in .stl format needs to be sent to an online server, along with the user's name and a model name they created, to segregate each user's models from other users' models, as well as to differentiate between the user's individual models (assuming they may have more than one). I need the software to be Mac and Linux compatible as well as Windows - I would prefer it to be run online if that is remotely possible, but I suspect the requirements will require a downloadable program instead. I do not care how it is written (in what language, etc.)...though I assume C/C++ will be necessary? The characters will initially be focused on medieval fantasy types (elves, dwarves, gnomes, halflings, humans, half-orcs, etc. for races, and warriors, wizards, clerics, and such for style of accessories) - eventually the figures represented will be expanded to include sci-fi and 'modern' type characters; virtually any style of character suited for all of the various role-playing games out there today.
