I have a DOS database application that I need to rewrite for Windows. The application is a billing application for a law office. It has reports, input of time, court cases, multiple attorney support and so forth. It is not a terribly complex application by modern standards.
I would prefer to write it using C# and WPF .Net 3.5 for personal and continuing support reasons, but a lower bid might persuade me to use another technology. Don't fail to bid just because you don't want to use WPF.
I would prefer not to use a database as I will have to maintain this system, and am not a database admin myself. If a database is necessary, I would prefer MySQL over other DBs. I can be persuaded off of this point if you have arguments to make, make them.
Attached, you will find PDF files that are the manual for the original program. I have permission from the original copyright owners to do this project.
Elements of the program that are specific to the DOS environment do not need to be reproduced. Only the functionality and user interface approach need to be reproduced. Much of the manual is dedicated to DOS issues like changing text color of menus, DOS specific ways of making backups, etc. that aren't necessary today.
Everything about this project is fairly negotiable other than the basic functionality of the original program. I have some database source code from the original program, but I don't believe it will be useful as it's in an obscure dialect of FoxPro mentioned in the manual.
You may propose using open source software. You may propose that the result be made open source. I don't need the copyright, but do need rights to use the program, of course.
## Deliverables
Propose a deadline. See the attached zip file, it is very important to the bid.
If you have additional questions about how things are supposed to work after reading the PDFs, please ask questions.

The zip file was initially corrupted. I believe it is now fixed if you want to download it and look at the user's manual. Thanks for bidding! -Kelly

I Thank each and every one of you for your thoughtful bids. I'm sure that any one of you could implement this program successfully in your sleep. Since this project is being done for a client of mine, it will take a few days to choose a winning bidder. I hope to be able to choose one of you and get started in the next week. Again, thank you all. -Kelly
