I have developed a website for a company in the UK that uses ASP.Net (Visual Basic) and an Access database. The company has grown considerably since then and the website is now having severe slowdown issues. They now need to reset IIS at least once a day. Once reset the site runs ok but eventually it needs resetting again. I have tried optimizing the code as best as I can but now need a permanent solution as the company will only get bigger and take on more staff. I think the solution is to convert to SQL Server but I only have limited experience using it so I need someone to do the conversion and bring me up to speed on developing with it into the future. Although the customer and the website is in the UK, I live in Thailand. It may be possible for this work to be done remotely but another possibility is that the successful candidate should come and work on the conversion here with me (if that were the case I could provide free accommodation). The application is in the field of construction with many detailed steel calculations as well as more general project management functions. Finally, I am unsure as to the budget on this so have left the default selection of 'Very small project' and will see what response I get. This could be a very interesting project for someone and if it goes well there is a lot of further development work in the pipeline that could also be delegated.

Hello! I work with excel and access for last 5 years and have created hundreds of different database ( from simple to complicated solutions that use VBA MSQL). I do have experience in Visual Basic as well. I will be able to convert existing database into SQL Server and give it required speed and functionality. I have diploma in statistics so I will be easy to understand different calculations and formulas. THe conversion can be done remotely. Even my rating at this site not very high, i really know what i am doing and my reviews can confirm that. If You need somebody who can manage really difficult thing, I am right person, i have good background in SQL and VBA, and all my DB work with 100% accuracy and performance. Approach to the Job: I will create script, that will be able to connect Your server using ODBC, then filter results in 3-5 different ways to create different reports. When User will press "Update" button, my prog will connect to server and update data/charts/queries/povots. Hi, i have read your problem description and have some commentaries and questions. I agree that the DBMS maybe causing your problem. MS Access is not designed for used by many concurrent users. and the asp.net application tweak and redevelop is a must if you want to switch to MS SQL Server. Questions : 1. How many users using the application? and how many possibility concurrent users using the application? 2. Is it the application now based on ASP.NET MVC? 3. What is the current .Net Framework do you used? REgards

Hello! Please, check my portfolio, I think I can help you. You have Access database, good news is the Access database objects (tables, indexes and data) can be exported in MS SQL server without problem, slightly worse is the case with SQL queries in ASP (in your VB code), all of them will need to be checked, Access SQL and SQL for MS SQL are slightly different, and if you have programm objects in Access database (for example queries or some code), they are to be moved or in SQL server or VB side. I still have doubts about IIS why it requires a reboot, it seems that there are processes that do not free memory or which is not closed session, possibly something else. You may find that porting to another platform will not work.
