I have a client with a basic Wordpress installation running Canvas template. Now he wants to take it to the next level and have a section of his site where people can log in and pay for video content either on a one off usage or a month by month sign up (like a membership). There will be levels of payment/membership (bronze, silver, gold for example) and with each level they will be provided with further information and access to more content. I figure YouTube will be the place to actually upload the vids and have them as unlisted so the only way to see them is by hitting up the website where the link to the video address is, but I could probably use someone way smarterer than me to set it all up.

Hey mate! I don't want to waste anybodies time so let's talk about the specifics: Just simply use the Ultimate Membership Pro plugin to setup the member management. For the vids you need some better solution than youtube because i can copy-paste the unlisted video link and publish the paid video anywhere... Hello, You approach is a good approach, We can manage all user restictions using WordPress and manage videos from YouTube.
