By using Visual Basic, create a simple .exe file which creates a pdf file from the selected data in txt file. We have PLC unit which records some of test values in to a txt file. Every record is saved in to same txt file in order. Every record has unique test ID. We need to show that unique test ID’s and related test results in pdf form. The exe file will show test ID’s to the user. User will select one of the ID. According to selected ID, the exe file will find related test values from the text file and will show in the text boxes in the userform and will create a PDF file.

Hi, I am an experienced process control engineer and in my long career of more than 30 years in the field I have encountered many problems like the one you have. My proposal to you is very simple. I propose to develop an .exe desktop application using wither C# or VB.NET programming languages, what ever you prefer. I strongly recommend C# because of its greater readability but in the end is up to you. The .exe application will have a form that reads the text file and identifies the test ID's presenting them in a way that the user is able to select one of them. Once the test ID is selected the program will retrieve the test data from the file and will show it in the form with a button that allows the user to generate the pdf file. I order to start the job I will need a sample text file and if possible a draft of the pdf format needed. I estimate the job to be completed in five working days. I think I can have a draft ready for revision in three days and deliver the final version in five. Thanks for the opportunity and look forward to work with you.
