When taking a close look at factors that might affect the performance of different asset classes it is worth examining factors on two important scales, the micro local and macro global ones.
At the manager, or micro, level, there are countless factors that can hinder future performance, including personal issues, lack of proper alignment or motivation, and competition from new managers.
At the global macro level, virtually all asset classes and investment strategies are cyclical in their return profiles, meaning they simply work better at some times than at others, depending on a host of macro factors including interest rates, GDP growth, central bank interventions and other geopolitical factors.
My experience and qualifications allow me to examine the forces behind the different factors that might affect the different asset classes and provide a comprehensive report on the subject.
