I'm working on a woocommerce project that uses product pages to link to an external auction site. Currently added a new tab to the product page that has auction details displaying as a product. In this tab there are fields for entering dates (start and end of an auction). I need the products page to sort based on that date input. Currently, it sorts by creation date which will usually be different from the auction start and end date. The date is currently manually inserted, it might be easier to achieve this with a date selector in its place. 2 product category pages need to filter this way. One sorts by "start date", the other sorts by "end date".

Pretty straightforward requirement. You mean someone manually types the whole words "January 14, 2017"?! I'd add a date selector there for you.
