I just finished a project a few months ago very similar to this. I can provide references if needed. He had a large VarChar() column that needed to be cleaned up and parsed into multiple columns. This was coming from a barcode scanner application that combined multiple SKUs together. It came to me through Excel so we hard a few extra challenges cleaning up the data.
