Award winning Manhattan-based publication seeks to hire a hands-on freelance art director for a long-term basis. The ideal candidate will possess: 1. At least five years of magazine production experience 2. Proven expertise in Quark, Photoshop, and Illustrator 3. Impeccable attention to detail and be able to work well under pressure 4. Ability to function as a single-person art director from designing pages, entering corrections, and shipping files to printer. 5. Excellent photo retouching skills 6. Exceptional design skills and demonstrate a passion for excellence 7. Strong typography skills, composition skills and color sense 8. Degree in graphic design or related field preferred 9. Communication skills to serve as liaison with printer, pre-press and various venders

I'm President of Dreaming City Design Group, located in Charlotte, North Carolina. We focus on turn key solutions for web, print and public relations. We have genuine experience working with clients such as American Express, Transamerica, AEGON, Liz Claiborne - directly, not as subcontractors. Our team has designed award winning print projects and have handled everything from CMYK+ Spot + Varnish, Die Cut, Embossed print work. We have talented writers and artists available (you will never see stock art in our projects unless client has specified otherwise.) We work directly with printers to preflight files, review bluelines, request ink draw downs, book dummies, provide data files for fullfilment and shipping vendors. We have hands on Pre-Press functions including film output, silhouttes, plate burning, direct to press imaging and even sheet fed and web printing. I have 17 years of experience in Print and Publishing - doing the work I love since I produce magazines and newspapers in Central New Jersey and worked on the Staff at the Courier News (Gannet Publicaions)as well as team lead at Moore Business Forms. Mac, PC, Unix and Amiga - :D - experienced. Heck I still have a hand waxer, letter and line gauge and reduction wheel and line tape if you want an old fashioned approach. Picas and Points are as natural as ABC for our Design Group.
