I have a 200 line .cpp file that was originally written under Borland C++ (attached) and I need this code revised to build
in MS Visual Studio C++ (a free download version of MS VS C++).
The functions this file supports (in WINx32) are as follows:
report_error (const char* op) // Report a Windows error for accessing the serial device
serial_init (const char* dev) // Open the communication channel
serial_fini (void) // Close the communication channel
sendBuf (const char* buf, size_t len) // Send a bufferful of data to the modem
recvBuf (char* buf, size_t len) // Receive a bufferful of data from the modem
setTimeouts (int slow) // Set the reception timeouts
-------------------------------
Six functions in total, which ultimately make it possible to send a string (ex: 'AT') to a usb 56k dial up modem that's plugged into
my 32 bit WinXP PC and collect the modem response, if any. Please only contact me about doing this project if:
1. you have a 32 bit Windows PC (ideally Windows XP, which is the o/s I'll use for this project)
2. you have a 56k dial up modem for testing
3. you have worked with code like this, ideally Visual Studio C++ code that can send a string to a modem on a com port and get its
response, or reliably time-out if no response happens.
-------------------------------
I suggest $120.00 usd for this project and will give preference to a coder who meets the 3 criteria just mentioned. Please
review the attached [login to view URL] file and contact me indicating if you feel confident this little project is something you can do.
(The original code I have works perfectly and I suggest the coder give the original code version a quick test.)
Note: Unfortunately, my work sometimes makes it hard to reply to messages promptly, but I'll promise to reply in 24 hours max.
Waiting up to 24 hrs for me to reply to some request from you for project related clarification or help may be annoying (sorry)
but anyhow I suggest allowing up to 7 days to deliver this project. Total coding time may not be long, but waits may be longer.
-------------------------------
P.S. - After successful delivery of this project, there's another much simpler project request (perhaps half of this difficulty level)
which I may post next (which I will probably suggest $60.00 usd for).
Hello. I'm expert in C++, Visual Studio and porting unmanaged code to managed code and vica versa. Also I hace large experience in porting open sources Gnu C++ apps into Visual Studio. I have experience with Borland C++ too.
Looks like it's possible to complete your work in few hours.
