The sports page dominated by private schools and large booster programs. Rosters of high school sports with no student/athlete living within that school district. What has happened to high school sports? We know the cheating that goes on in college .Sanctions, suspensions, probations .Anything to Win. Is this the direction of high school athletics?? Private High school coach with a salary of $220,000 per year. Private high school with a weight room second to none among even college programs and also a staff of five athletic trainers. Private and even some public high school coaches recruiting at pop warner games, little league, soccer games. We want to promote real sports programs. Children attending the high school in their neighborhood. High school Coaches that do not recruit. Our organization have found public high schools that play the right way. Have you played or had/have a child that was involved in public high school sports? Are you aware of the very low pay for the assistants and head coaches in all sports programs at the public high school? The assistants/head coaches we will be helping receive $3000/$5200 per season. A season can be minimum of four (4) months to year around 12 months. If you know the time a coach will spend, you can agree the wages are extremely low. In most cases a head coach and some assistants will commit a year around program (weight room, mentoring) making their wages even less. These coaches, in many cases, will be the most influential person your child will be involved with, other than yourself, through their high school years. Building team work, fair play and overall life lessons prior to adulthood is so critical. Did you have a coach/teacher that affected your life in a positive way? Paying the coaches a fair wage will allow good people to stay, rather than looking for at least a fair level of pay to support them while they attend school or start building their life work. Our current goal at Even the Field is to raise money to increase that stipend to at least the minimum wage level. There are many goals to Even the Field. If you have a particular sport, academics or arts program that you are interested in, please let us know. The funds will be given to those schools that we deem worthy of help.
