I'm completely new to this, so bear with me please. I'm looking to build a completely autonomous rover that I can deploy in the desert region of Southern CA, similar to the Mars Rover from NASA, and have it roam a specified area to look for gold using a metal detector.  I have identified several key components that I'd like to use and have listed them below.  I believe this is going to be fairly complicated project.  If you think you can handle, then let me know.  I think I can handle the hardware build with your guidance. Let me know your thoughts on project price. I'd consider paying hourly as well. This is the platform I'd like to use: [login to view URL] This is the software I'd like to use and already own the APM 2.5 from 3D Robotics: [login to view URL] This is the metal detector that I own and would like to use in this prototype: [login to view URL] Here are some other Requirements: Avoid Obstacles Operate in temperatures 20-120 degrees Fahrenheit Navigate obstacles a defined area Record path covered and logging Detect and record flag gold and other targets identified by metal detector using sweeping pattern from rotating metal detector on back of Gears SMP platform. Grid out boundaries with geofencing and navigation using Ardu Mission Planner described above. Be Autonomous and communicate via cellular network Solar recharge 1-2 week missions GPS/Video High Torque (The Site Administrator has removed the posted contact details)

Hello sir, I find your project challenging and very interesting. For this you will need experience with RTOS, electronics, Arduino and microcontrollers, probably servomechanism control, ...let me explain my experience in each of those areas in PM.

This is a fairly complicated project you have taken on, and one I have read into before. There is actually a lot of need for this type of equipment in humanitarian aid as well, and unfortunately most of it cost many thousands of dollars and does not have the capabilities you are looking for. I have seen simpler versions of what you are trying to make, but yours will need to be custom made. The hardware costs will mostly depend on chassis and solar panel capabilities versus maneuverability, as well, ability to carry weight. Weight becomes a concern and it may be worth while to consider having your own metal detector made as well, instead of using a garret (I'm not a big fan) and attempting to interface it with other circuity. I could not afford the hardware to take on this project, but I am interested helping you complete it. I have experience with programing and electrical circuits for micro-controllers, working with different robots, working with metal detectors, and would enjoy the challenges. I would also prefer working by the hour on the project for you as I imagine there will be many little challenges along the way. Good luck on this and I hope you keep me in mind.
