Hi, I have a VPS server that uses Apache2 and Nginx as reverse proxy. I would like to secure my website against Dos-attacks (GET requests for example). The OS is Debian and the access is via SSH. But I prefer that we do this over Skype chat and you simply guide me through it. I'm quite familiar with the terminal so it will probably go easy. Thanks in advance, Joseph

Hi, DDOS can be prevented with a firewall, with a cost for your website loading speed (a firewall actually limits the number of simultaneous connections, butst tranfers, etc). Sometimes it can be tweaked up that has no visual impact (the speed seems to be the same). What I actually do when I get to decide about the revese proxy, is that I use Varnish instead of Nginx. It's a specialized reverse proxy, in version 4 it's very fast, and it actually protects the content/web server against various kinds of attacks, including DDOS. Regards, Istvan
