I can ship to you custom-made hardware (consisting of transmitter and receiver) that uses an infrared laser to transmit data up to 50m distance. It will accept input via digital pin signal, encode that information in an infrared laser beam, send it to a receiver, and the receiver will decode and present the data as digital pin outputs. This hardware will need to interface to a microcontroller. It will not drive motors on its own. It is only part of your project. It will be your responsibility to interface this laser encoder and decoder into the rest of your project. If this will suit your needs, I can provide it. I have already developed a transmission system for infrared lasers and tested it out to 50m in outdoor conditions. Indoor performance will be better. One transmitter and one decoder will be provided, along with a test circuit to make installation and testing easier.
