Augmented reality project

Hi there, The objective of this project is to create a website were the consumer can interact with a product packaging through augmented reality in a website created by a webcam. Currently we’ve seen a very interesting example of this project done by lego with their Lego Digital Box (please see [login to view URL] ). It was created a small TV+Webcam kiosk were the consumer shows the product to the website and through a software that was built in the TV’s computer and Webcam, there was the recognition of the pack, the perspective of the pack and then a 3D image of the toy was build on top of the pack. We intend to create something similar but with some small adjustments to make this simple: - We want to use this on a normal laptop connected to the internet so the consumer can use it at home. He buys the product, goes home and to a website communicated on pack. The website connects to the laptop webpage and creates the 3d image on top of the pack. It’s a website, there’s no hardware; - We have only 1 packaging (regular box) and we want to create a figure of our brands mascot in 3D popping out of the pack (a 3D Boat Captain, it needs to be created we only have 2d images of it); The overall experience would be to engage the consumers (product targeted to kids) that have seen the TV commercial and really enjoy our brand’s mascot. In order to give the mascot live we would like to have it appear in front of the children. So the children would go to the website, the webcam would turn on with their image and once the pack appears that mascot appears popping out.
