Objective:? Buzzio is an online media collection and competitive reporting service.? We will need to use a web crawling function to gather all media coverage for submitted company and product names.? Once all media hits are collected, they will be sorted into categories and then put through a smart algorithm to be assigned a rating.? This rating system will be standard in the Buzzio system but needs to be easily customized by the end customer. ## Deliverables **Development of web crawler:** Example: <[login to view URL]> ? This article has not been picked up by Google since it was published online October 5.? What needs to be done in order to pick this up for Buzzio?? Is the web crawler an easy solution? We need to also create a way to eliminate repetitive articles.? The media hit should only be counted once on the specified domain.? i.e. <[login to view URL]> (wireless networks for UK University release can only be counted one time) ? **Development of algorithm:** The system needs to automatically rank the type and quality of articles. There will be a scoring for both quality and type to come up with the Buzzio ranking. Basically, there will be a number from 1-5 assigned for the type of article. So when a domain/media hit is pulled into the system it needs to be tagged as one of the following (the assigned rating is provided for each): Blog (2), webcast (2), podcast (2), product review(3), job placement(1), analyst mention(3), analyst report (4), article mention (2), ? article feature (5), article pickup (2), social media (2), product listing(1), event listing(1), analyst briefing (2),? analyst report (3), wire service (1), release pickup ? Quality will need to follow the following criteria: Domain name (do we need to provide an excel sheet with every publication name and provide number assignment (quality will range from 1-5)? Examples: <[login to view URL]> this is a blog which is a 2 with a rating of 3: overall score 2.5 ? Other examples of rating: 5 ??" Top tier press - Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Business Week, CNN, MSNBC, Fox, AP, Reuters, 4 ??" Regional Publications - Philadelphia Inquirer, San Francisco Chronicle, Federal Computer Week, Government Computer News 3 ??" Industry Publications - Information Week, Network World, Campus Technology, Business Journals, American Medical News, Medical Product Manufacturing News 2 ??" Newsletters - Tech Times, Austin Tech, IT Business Edge, Texas Tech Pulse 1 ??" miscellaneous websites that pick up releases ? - TMCnet, Dark Reading, If new publications are captured by Buzzio and not yet assigned a rating, they need to be flagged for Buzzio administration to submit a rating number.
