We need a design improvement of a thumbturn for our height adjustable mobile standing desk. Some current facts: - We have a round knob (pos. 1) to fix a seamless gas spring (pos. 3). - At the moment we release/tighten the gas spring with only a 1/4 turn of the knob. - The desk is easy to move (the closing forces should not have an impact on it). - The geometry of the knob does not have to be round. - The upper part ("knob holder" pos. 2) can also be integrated to the new design, the height (25mm) and shape of this part can change. - The company logo should be integrated. - The design has to be appropriate to the entire product.

Your design requirements are very clear, I appreciate that. It's also clear that the issue with any rotary motion knob is it will shift the desk. I have 2 alternate designs in mind; both requiring non-rotary motions to release the piston. Both designs will require a modification of the collar (pos 2). One design would be very economical, the other would add some cost to the collar, but may be more attractive. I can sketch both and work out the general operation in a working day. Refining the design would take a second day. A third day would be devoted to basic drawings. You guys seem to have competent engineers to work out exact sizing, which in my experience is a moving target. I've got experience in product design, and this design problem is exactly the kind of work I love to do. Hope to get a chance to work with you guys. Please contact me with any questions.
