Asset Inspection and Inventory Management Application

To give you a bit of background into what we do as a company, we are best described as an asset remarketing company. We are largely involved in the resale, de-installation and collection of assets (which can include IT, Telecoms, Medical, Plant & Machinery as well as other asset classes). We need to create an online / offline solution that allows our remarketing / inspection team to go to site, perform the inspection (take pictures, records details of damages, etc) and put together a comprehensive audit report (based on the findings). Ideally we would want the report to be created ‘on the fly’ and to be uploaded to our system or directly to email as is required. At present our team takes pictures (via camera or phone camera) and records details on either paper or via a tablet (or laptop, etc) and wait until they return to the office to prepare the report. This takes time (we’re effectively doing the job twice) and can lead to confusion when dealing with multiple assets at the same time (it can be difficult to tie up the right photos with the text). Our aim is to cut down on administration (time taken to process the report), give the reports some consistency (in the way they look and are presented) and reduce errors. We deal with several types of asset classes / categories, ranging from IT and Telecoms to Medical and Construction. It is essential that the system has the flexibility to be able to deal with all of these categories, whilst not being too generic as to devalue the report it produces.
