I am looking for an extremely creative artist to create a cover and back page for a novel that is going to be published in the month of September 2008. The book is about 7 girls and the front cover should have images of the girls (description will be given) with an image of rural India in the back ground. The title of the book will be in the center. For the back cover, the same girls will have grown up and at age 40 or so and the background image will be of either New York or Chicago. Since it will be on a circulated book, I would like to be sophisticated looking, not childish. Also, some knowledge of Indian culture will help. I do not like to micro manage and will give all information with regard to what I want when I choose the artist. If there are changes, I would like them to be done amicably. I ask for perfection in this work. I would like the images to be given to me in psd files (each layer should be independent of each other) as well as high res jpegs. The artist will be given credit in the book but I will hold the copyrights to each individual image in the design. I would like to see some samples and if you have even the slightest question about anything to do with the project please do not hesitate to ask. Thank you in advance.

I want to say thanks for posting this project & express how glad I am to be submitting my bid. THIS BID IS NEGOTIABLE. Most buyers want to know... (1) Will I show mocks for approval and be open to additions, changes or suggestions? Absolutely, I MAKE SURE I'M GETTING IT RIGHT... I don't like re-doing work any more than anyone else & the sooner I get my work done the sooner I get paid & move to the next step/project, right? (2) Will I try to go by the suggested outline, while also contributing my own personal touch to the images? That's the definition of an illustrator/designer vs. a fine artist... I like my work & want future work; & if you don't get what you want, I don't get what I want. The title "illustrator/designer" is a service title... your the boss. (3) Will I release full copyright and ownership of the illustrations/designs that I provide? Yes; all I ask in return is the ability to use the images for self-promotion; my doing good work for you can land more work at what I love most and a few copies for my portfolio would be a nice bonus. I have won several awards recently and would like to add your title to my collection. If selected for the project, I would like to map out a strategy suited to our dual schedules. I submit a proposed cost estimate of $450.00 US dollars for front and back cover. If block layout is desired, I can do that as well for an additionnal $150. Samples can be seen on my profile pages.
