Cartoony timeline for restaurant entrance

As discussed, something along these lines... So, taking it down to 5 decades, I think it would look good to represent each with a background pattern, and an iconic figure in the foreground, as large as possible. I attach a (very) rough sketch of my initial thoughts, and I'll repeat the words here, as my handwriting is near incomprehensible! 60s Foreground: Neil Armstrong, on the moon with flag, the iconic image Background: Some take on pop art, either a Warhol type grid of screenprints (maybe of Armstrong again?) or a Lichtenstein comic book style panel, where you can see the printing dots? Something graphic anyway. 70s Foreground: Muhammad Ali, dressed for his Rumble in the Jungle (or maybe Joh Travolta in his Saturday Night Fever pose and clothes?) Background: Lava lamp bubble, maybe in orange. And using the outline shape of the lava lamp as another graphical device. Other (rejected) thoughts were tie dye (probably too garish) and glitterball (hard to show this in a cartoon art style). 80s Foreground: Michael Jackson? Madonna? (might be better to get a lady in there?) Pop musician in iconic 80s clothes is good here. ET was another concept. Background: Massive isometric Rubiks cube graphic etc...

Hi. I specialise in hand drawn cartoons in brush/pen & ink and also digital artwork in illustrator. From what you describe (and I understand your description perfectly) it's something that I can produce in illustrator for you. I did something along these lines for a previous job where I had to draw cartoons of people from the shoulders down. These were then transferred to the sides of a mini bus. Anyone on the street would see a real head but the body of any one of a number of cliched australian characters such as cricketer, truckie, of aussie rules footballer. Illustrator allows me to work on the characters and backgrounds can be discussed and ideas exchanged to get the right result. Maybe there could be a 50's image : just s leg from the knee down but wearing jeans with big turn-ups, like Marlon Brando in that film that escapes me. But that's a classic 50's look and could be the last thing lined up with the door. Examples of my cartoons can be found in my profile and I look forward to hearing from you soon
