Good afternoon,
Thank you for the details of your search for a writer.
While a writer at heart, I came into the editing profession by luck. I graduated from college with a degree in behavioral science; a field that I was fascinated with until I discovered my true love for writing. My first "real" job after college was as a staff writer for a small weekly newspaper. My editor saw the hunger in me to bring quality reporting to our community and he hired me with no experience. His gamble paid off and within a few months on the job, I wrote an article that would later receive accolades from the Maine Press Association.
I later relocated and went into marketing for a large foodservice company. Among my regular duties, I was often asked to write product descriptions and corporate biographies as well as proofread material that other departments generated (i.e., safety manuals, etc.).
A year ago, my youngest daughter was born and I decided to stay home, raise my family and freelance ghostwrite and edit on the side.
Please feel free to let me know if you have any questions or would like to see examples of my work.
Thank you for your time and consideration,
Mariah Patterson
