Okay, here's the deal: Say I have a house, and have somewhere between 6 to 12 cameras. I would want an unlimited amount of people to be able to watch these cameras. Basically I'm looking for a cost effective, yet reliable way to do this. Here's what I'm thinking so far, equipment wise: 1 decent powered PC at the house. 1 decent powered dedicated server. House PC captures and saves all video on disk (similar to a security system DVR). Dedicated Server polls the House PC every 1 second for an image update on each camera. Dedicated Server then serves the image up to any web user viewing it. I'm thinking the dedicated server can just cache the images in memory for 5 seconds, helping save CPU power. Need two software scripts. One will grab webcam images and timestamp them. The other will view the images within a browser. Image grabber(Perl, C/C++, Java etc expected) --------------------------- This will grab webcam jpg images via an http get and place them onto a web server (From where the script is run) with the file appended with a timestamp.
