Facebook Climate Gym Carbon Calculator Brief Overview: A facebook application that allows users to calculate and view their carbon footprint, compare it to their friends’ footprints, be set and complete actions to cut their footprint, undertake other actions to become a ‘carbon crusader/campaigner’ and (gently) compete with their friends to have the lowest carbon footprint. The application will provide notifications to users of how they compare to their friends, who has cut their emissions, who is the ‘greenest friend’, and let people keep track of the changes they have made to their carbon footprint. Left Nav Application places a “Carbon Footprint?? link to the application homepage in the left nav panel. Facebook Canvas Pages Home see image 1 The homepage for the application displays a list of you and all your friends, ranked in order of lowest carbon footprint, lowest first. Each person’s display shows their profile picture, their current carbon footprint, what it has been reduced from if appropriate, the most recent action they have completed, and their ‘carbon campaigner’ level. Additionally, if their position has changed in the past week, an up arrow or down arrow is displayed indicating the number of places moved. The person with the lowest carbon footprint out of the group of them and their friends is the ‘greenest friend’. (I.e. you either have ‘a greenest friend’, or ‘you are the greenest of all your friends’. User Dashboard- see image 2 Calculator When the application is first installed, the user is prompted to answer about 20 questions in order to determine their carbon footprint. The questions, and answers selected, are displayed on this page. The questions answers and data needed to power the carbon footprint calcualtor will be supplied by us once an coder is appointed. Questions can be returned to at a later date if a user’s circumstances change. Results The page displays your carbon footprint as determined by the questions answered. A breakdown of your footprint is displayed, along with a chart visualising this. If you reduce your footprint by completing actions (see below), the page will indicate what you have reduced your footprint from. Your carbon campaigner status is also displayed here. Comparison A box shows how your footprint compares to your friends, by showing the four friends with carbon footprints nearest to yours. If you have two people either side of you, that’s two above and two below. If, for example, you have the lowest carbon footprint of all your friends, then it will be the four below you. Friends are displayed in a ranked list ‘snippet’ of the display on the home page. A ranking number, profile pic, name and carbon footprint total is displayed for each friend. Clicking the name takes you to the profile, clicking the carbon total takes you to their carbon footprint dashboard. Actions ??" Footprint reducing After completing the calculator process, the page will suggest 10 actions to complete to reduce your footprint. E.g. To reduce your footprint by 0.6 tonnes change to energy-efficient lightbulbs. These actions will be supplied by us and how they relate to the footprint calcualtions will be supplied by us. Each action has a ‘completed’ button next to it for users to click when they have undertaken the action. When the button is clicked, a tick is displayed, and the text of the action changes. E.g. EXAMPLE "You changed to energy efficient lightbulbs and cut your footprint by 0.6 tonnes." A user who completes an action and changes their carbon footprint will get their footprint total display updated, as described above. If the change causes them to move in position relative to their friends, the ranking order will change. Actions ??" Carbon campaigning The application will also present those who calculate their footprints with 10 non-footprint related actions to undertake in order to become a ‘carbon crusader’. This is a separate mechanism to the footprinting ??" but utilising the same idea of actions. These actions may be political, for instance, like: "Write to your MP asking them to support contraction and convergence to become a carbon apprentice." Which changes to: You wrote to your MP asking them to support contraction and convergence and became a carbon apprentice. Again, the text for these actions will be supplied by us. Carbon History If a user has changed their carbon footprint, the application displays a graph showing how it has changed over time. Settings Profile Profile Box -see image 2b. On a user’s profile, the application displays their carbon footprint, what it has been reduced from if it has been reduced, and their ranking out of their friends. E.g. Christian’s carbon footprint: 15.70 tonnes Reduced from 20 tonnes 4th greenest out of 67 friends. Profile Action Links On a user’s profile, their friends can click to view their carbon footprint. Privacy Settings News Feed The application will update its newsfeed when the following occur: When a user initially calculates their footprint. When a user completes an action along with the corresponding reduction in footprint. When a user becomes the greenest of all their friends. When a user’s carbon footprint becomes higher or lower than the person reading the feed. (requires contextual feeds ??" does it work like that?) Alerts The application will email the user when one of their friends changes their footprint so it is higher or lower than the user. (I.e. the user is ‘leapfrogged’ by their friend.) Message Attachments The application will allow a user to attach their carbon footprint, a breakdown, and what it has been reduced from if appropriate, to a message. Graphics and Branding Basic branding and logos will be supplied by us along with design and style guidlines. Testing: We expect the application to be tested and bug free upon delivery We expect full compatability testing to make sure the application runs properly in the in all common browsers. We expect regualr updates, beta versions and the oppertunity to give feedback as the application is developed. 1) Complete and fully-functional working program set up and running in Facebook, ready for us to start using and marketing in accordance with the 'Description' section. Full source code for all work. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows: For web sites or? other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment. For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software? installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.

3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement).

## Platform

It needs to run in Facebook and be compatable and tested in all common web browsers.
