Hello, here is a romantic part of my novel so that you can see my writing :) not allowed many words so this is a small part :)
‘Well if you really need to know’, I gave a short, dry laugh as a result of both embarrassment and nerves. ‘I think you are beautiful’, I smiled, but my insides shrivelled up. I couldn’t believe that I had just said that. I was well aware of how corny my words sounded, but that’s what I was feeling, anyway, girls love that sweet, corny stuff.
‘Really?’ she asked. ‘Well you’re not too bad yourself’, I felt my stomach go into a frenzy of butterflies, I look back up at her in time to catch her gaze.
‘Not too bad?’ I asked, laughing.
‘Ok, well maybe you’re a little better than ok’, she giggled.
She moved a little closer to me, putting her hand in my own. ‘Ok, perhaps, I find you attractive’, she smiled and before I gave it a moment’s thought, I leant forward, eyes closed, only stopping when my lips touched hers. I hesitated for a moment, bracing myself for the slap which I was sure was about to come, but it never did. I pulled back and stared into her eyes, she smiled and gently pushed my hair off my face.
There are some moments in life that are worth waiting for, sometimes life was only a build up to a single moment, , a single touch, a single kiss, as I sit here, writing of this day, I feel a mixture of regret, angry and happiness. If only I could go back to a time like this, a time when everything was how it was supposed to be.
dialogue:
‘Dean, would you slow down’, Kiara yelled over to us from the backseat. I glanced over and saw that he was now driving along at 150km an hour, I hadn’t even noticed.
‘Why would I want to do that?’ Dean responded quickly.
‘uhh because we could all die’, Kiara replied in her ‘not too impressed’ tone of voice.
‘Don’t you trust me behind the wheel sis?’ Dean replied, trying his best to sound hurt.
‘Honestly?’ she questioned, ‘No I don’t’
‘What?’ he exclaimed. ‘Why don’t you trust me?’
‘Might be due to the fact that you have the worst driving record I have ever heard off’, she replied honestly and she did have a point.
Deans neglectful driving was a big deal back then. Dean had crashed into at least three poles, had his license removed four times and had even managed to run into a house, yes a house, all of this in his five years driving.
‘What?’ he yelled, slamming the brakes hard, I felt Shaun hit the back of my seat and gave thanks to god that I was wearing a seat belt.
‘Dean…what are you doing?’ Kiara asked sounding unimpressed.
‘If I’m so bad at driving, then why don’t any of you drive us?’ he questioned. A few cars had backed up behind us and were now honking trying to get us to move forward.
‘Oh wait!’ he continued, oblivious to the cars behind him. ‘None of you can drive’, he yelled, folding his arms across his chest.
‘Please Dean, just drive’, Shaun stuttered, getting nervous about the people piling up behind us, perhaps afraid that one of the angry drivers would get out and try to start a fight.
‘Not until she tells me I’m a good driver’, he replied obnoxiously, waving a hand in Kiara’s direction.
‘Kiara...please’, Shaun begged.
‘Fine…Dean you are the best driver in the world’, she muttered quietly.
‘Good’, he smiled and started to drive forward again, this time only reaching 120km before slowing down. The angry horns sounded from behind us all the way down the street, with some angry screaming coming from over taking cars.
