Team Projects
Deep Learning Landmark Identifier (Group of 3, Trained Convolution Neural Network in MATLAB)
• Training and Testing the Neural Network: used transfer learning to create Convolutional Neural Networks
with several existing networks using a landmark image dataset in MATLAB. Performance testing of each generated
network and tuning hyperparameters to train a network suitable for landmark identification.
• Analysis: Provided an analysis of the model’s accuracy and efficiency in recognizing landmarks.
• Presentation: A brief Presentation explaining the project’s goal to identify landmarks using deep learning, how this was archived and what areas had potential for improvement and future work.
App Controlled Automated Plant Watering System (Group of 3, Arduino/ESP32 programmed in C,
Phone App using MIT App Inventor)
• Innovative Problem-Solving: Identified and addressed the widespread issue of inefficient watering in home gardens. Focused on creating sustainable solutions to prevent overwatering and underwatering.
• Strategic Planning and Project Proposal: Articulated a comprehensive project plan through a detailed written report. The proposal highlighted an eco-friendly, automated watering system, showcasing forward-thinking and planning skills.
• User-Centric Design and Development: Pioneered an automated system controllable via a smartphone app, demonstrating a strong focus on user experience and convenience.
• Technical Proficiency: Assembled and programmed the electrical system Arduino Uno R3 and ESP32. Created a user-friendly mobile application using MIT App Inventor.
• Resource Management: Employed efficient resource management by integrating soil moisture monitoring and weather forecast data, ensuring optimal water usage and conservation.
• Effective Communication: Successfully presented the project concept through a persuasive video pitch, demonstrating strong communication skills and the ability to convey complex ideas clearly.
