VB .Net How to do Master-Detail using bound and NOT using DataGrid

I already have the project started in VB.Net 2003 and have the database in [url removed, login to view] is a software inventory database that keeps track of the software installed on PC’[url removed, login to view] are two parts to this. The first is using bound controlls, the second is using unbound controls.

From a listbox the user selects the workstation and the details of the software are then displayed in individually bound comboboxes, textboxes and richtext boxes ??" I do NOT want to use the datagrid, I can do this with the datagrid but can’t with individual controls.

When the user selects the workstation in the Workstation listbox I want only the software installed on that workstation to showup in the software listbox and the rest of the software info to display in the respective textboxes/datetimepicker/combobox/richtextbox

I want navigaiton buttons to cycle throuth the details of each software installed on the selected workstation. The user can edit or delete the details. If the user wants to add software to a workstation, they select the Workstation and click the Add button. When they click the add button the software listbox now displays all of the software in the software lookup table rather than just what is installed on the workstation.

The user enters data into the text boxes, selects values from the comboboxes and dates from the datetimepickers then clicks the update button or if they try to navigate it asks if they want to update with the entered data.

That was part one using bound controls.

Part two is the same project but using unbound controls and with the dataset to return ONLY the data for the selected workstation. The user selects the workstation (populated in the dataset when form opens) and when selected the dataset is updated with only the data for that workstation. This is for multi-user usage. The two parts are for me to learn how to do it using bound controls for quick prototyping and the second part is for me to see how the same project is converted to a production multi-user application. I do NOT want any error checking or data validation, I will add that later, I want it as simple and straightforward as possible.

## Deliverables

1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.

2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables):

a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment.

b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.

3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement).
