Desktop Application to show the temperature of hottest and coldest place on earth , along with the local temperature on a scale

A simple desktop application which would interact with the a RSS Feed (example : BBC or Yahoo Weather) and display name of the city with hottest and coldest temperature on the [url removed, login to view] application should have the facility to read the locale of the machine on which the application is running and show the temperature of the current locale.

? Once installed tool should have the ability to automatically start and displays the information as stated above.

? User should have the ability to enter the refresh time interval.

? An option to change the display of temperature from Celsius to Fahrenheit

Ability to minimize the application. Once minimized the application icon should appear on the system tray.

? Should close automatically when the computer / App is shut down.

? README file with clear instructions for installation and running of program is expected.

? UI should follow look and feel of windows platform and clearly display the three temperatures, preferably on a scale. (open to fair suggestions)

# Technology usage

? Developer is expected to develop the app in Java or .Net.

? Developer can use any third party software provided, ONLY if it is allowed to be freely distributed with the source code after modifications and such a usage has been approved.

? Developer should respect appropriate Terms Of Usage of data/RSS feeds being used.

# Qualification

? Developer with experience in developing application in Java or .Net. It may require some portfolio to show for previous work.

? Any previous projects recommendations would be given extra weightage.

? In absence of previous portfolio of work, appropriate academic qualification would be considered.

# Timeliness Expectations:

? If working full time, the work is estimated to take no more than 4-5 working days. (In events of any delays for a genuine concern, it should be communicated as early as possible)

? If completed in time and to desired quality, second phase of work may follow.

# Lodging of Bid

The interested bidder should submit the bid with the following information provided when submitting the bid on [url removed, login to view]:

? Price proposal

? Technical proposal including the qualification/experience of the bidder, the proposed technology used, and the time schedule to complete the project

# Communication & Reporting:

? This is a small project which is time critical; a daily update via email wrt progress would be needed.

? Any queries can be sent via email to designated email address.

? Any issues should be raised as soon as possible to avoid any potential delays.

? On mutual agreement of appropriate time, communication via phone / skype would be acceptable.

# Deliverable:

? Require complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.

? Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition in a jar file or.exe.

? All deliverables must be provided with complete instructions and assistance so that the employer may install them in ready-to-run condition in the employer's environment.

? All other software (including but not limited to any desktop software or software the employer intends to distribute) must include a software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this project (unless specified elsewhere by the employer).
