I think it might be cool to see if we can nurture a tree on the moon. Maybe a Bonsai? Or maybe moss first?

Earth: soil from earth.
Air: compressed CO2 exhaust from ISS.
Fire: Heat & light from solar panels? Micro nuclear plant?
Water: Loop filtered irrigation and mist?
Catalyst: Waste fertilizer from ISS.

For an airtight 1m diam sphere half under ground.
a. remote controlled mini shovel catapillar with camera controlled via ISS?
b. A vibe sifter net thingy to extract fine moon sand aggregate.
c. Epoxy based binder from earth.
d. A lego 3d printer?
e. Camera for inside the sphere. To feed live images to earth.
note: Need strong epoxy to mitigate cost of delivery? There is most definetly many details and variables missing here, so... Freelancer.

Matias' #35 has added a construction vehicle, cool! Is that the silo for firing emergency oxygen capsules, to support Mars missions? A chain of emergency oxygen jetting along side, might come in handy. If not, then a batch of oxygen at mars when they arrive, would boost chances of a permanant Mars base.

There is a dome that distributes oxygen through selective ventilation.
It is also built with minerals from the lunar terrain and anodized metal, which would greatly facilitate construction.
What is the option that you like the most that I sent?

Tonis' #36 looks quite self sufficent! Has wheels so in case mobility is required for bringing the farmed oxygen to a hub and trading it for a dose of CO2? If it can be replicated using mainly moon mined resources, that'll be cool!

My 2 favorites as art pieces are Lesia D's #18 and Oscar E's #33 . I might try a hand at oil painting the winners entry! Matias L. delivered the most input so far, hmmm is it possible to award multiple entries? Anyone know?

Thejomaya B. entry #32 tree hub is on a raised foundation. I never really thought about it, but direct contact with the lunar surface might sap the heat from the tree hub faster? There are a few other entries with the raised hub... didn't notice.

    Excellent!
In my new proposals #28 , I put the aquaponic system to create a complete, simple and ideal ecosystem for the moon. And I also followed your advice to use an electric heater.
I love how it turned out, I await your opinion, greetings!

Hmmm, how is the thermo gonna be produced to siphon into the geodesic double hull? youre gonna need some hefty solar panels the bigger the moonGreenhouse. Thats why a micro nuclear reactor would be the logical choice. A aquaponic system within the green moon house would be useful. And fish? A full on sustainable eco system? Not just farming trees for oxygen? Sounds pretty cool! And maybe a simple electric coil heater for the double hull would be more practical. Maybe a mixture of sciences from the FooDjinns, RaeDjinns.

That is! The low temperature of the moon doesn't affect the thermosyphonic principle at all. This principle is that the hottest air (even if it is cold) rises and the colder air falls, it is due to the difference of temperature and density.
I am sure that it would work well, I also developed another option. # 24 it is an aquaponic system, to generate the first microecosystem on the moon.
By condensing the air, the water in the resorvoir is produced. From that container it goes to the plants, the water left over falls into a fish tank. Fish produce nutrients that help plants grow, and plants provide minerals to fish.
This would be the first micro ecosystem of the moon.

    Great ideas Sir!
I designed this other more complete #23 adding your proposals.
At the top it has two streamers. Its function is to condense the air by means of the thermosiphon principle. The hot air goes up and when it cools it condenses. with this system the tree would be irrigate on the moon.
Furthermore, I added a temperature sensor at the bottom.
I would love to work with you in the future, we would be an extraordinary team!

Hi Matias, I am replying to your entry #23 . Thermalsyphon is pretty cool, like a cpu heat sink? But its pretty cold in space, so it might be counter productive? I was thinking about maybe hiring the AirDjinns to conjure a gas mixture which heats up at high pressures and cools at low ones. A sensor within the habitat to thermomerate the temperature at 30 degs Celcius? If the temperature drops, then a pressure pump would pump gas into the space between the 2 spheres, making it hotter and vice versa

I was researching and putting that knowledge into this design.
Firstly, a hermetic double glazed geodesic geometry so that it is more energy efficient than ordinary glass.
Secondly a solid base and a structure that is maintained by gravity.
In addition, the solar panel to generate energy rotates with its robotic arm, to take more advantage of the radiation.

Hi Matias. The double glazed geodesic would definetely be stronger, thats a great idea. The space in between could be filled with gas that heats under pressure? Some sort of temperature moderator? I dont understand the base structure. Is it magnetically repelled? Do magnets even work on the moon? That'll ba an interesting experiment. A 1 kilo rock and a 1 kilo magnet weighed on earth. Then send it with an old timey scale to the moon. I wonder if the scale would stay balanced...

Anyways I researched a bit about the water content in trees, and the consensus is that about 50% percent of trees are made up of water. Hmmm... so a water filteration system for a bonsai with limited root capacity, would deplete at a much slower rate... but the oxygen yield will also remain stunted. Ice though would remain frozen on its way to the moon. What about air balloons carrying ice blocks to the stall point of the balloon, then launching the ice block into space? I wonder how much force would be needed for the ice block to escape earths atmosphere. The counter force would send the balloon hurdling back to earth tho. The ice cube could then be retrieved by crab claw carrying space drone and trajectedly shoot the ice block towards the moon. Angled trampolines could pinball the ice cube to a stop.

MD. Shahin A.'s entry has details on a water delivery system & lights, I completely overlooked lighting. The open top though... all the precious atmosphere would be wasted, no? Or is there a knee high atmosphere that I haven't read about?

Wow! Anas A That is really cool! Aesthetically stunning! The thing is, viablility... scientific viability, most of the components would have to be shipped from earth... which costs a shit ton 'o cash... the whole idea is to be able to eventually ship excess co2 from the Earth, print capsules, fill'm up with o2 from the trees, use 25% to get to mars another 25% to not smash into mars, regulate capsules to launch at closest point... cosmic pinball... by the time we can harness Jups hydrogen, the golilocks peeps would of maybe found a habitible new planet!

About silica not being available on the moon... I was wrong. I read a Nasa piece today and way back when they first went to the moon and brought back samples... Ilmenite, Pyroxene, and Plagioclase all contain silica! Whaddaya know! So with a mineral refinery plant and all that jazzy, a kind of glass composite could be made in space?

Ummm, I just want to clarify that its just an idea... the prize is the right to develop it for all that its worth here, not legally binding I dont think. Anyways just a 15 dollars boost and a slap on the back. Dont dont want you all to put in a thorough effort, and be dissapointed. The fact is that the entries are looking way more than 15 dollars worth. I dont wanna be blamed for a accidental hoodwink is all.

I know 15 dollars doesnt seem worth it... so, ummm the winner of the contest has the right to the project, can suss out the deets and resubmit the contest(s) in whatever way they choose. Yeah, if they want to turn it into a level in a game or something, that sounds cool!
