Missing indigenous women are not just statistics or names on a list; they are our daughters, sisters and mothers and friends. They are loved and cherished by their families who have been living in a state of anguish and uncertainty for far too long.

Indigenous women are 3 times more likely to go missing and 5 times more likely to be killed as a result. The fact that these women may have ended up in a landfill is a painful reminder of the systemic issues that plague our society. It is a stark representation of the disregard and devaluation of indigenous lives that has persisted for centuries. We cannot allow this injustice to continue any longer.

I have started a petition for the Winnipeg government to search the Brady landfill site to not only find closure for families involved but to take a step towards acknowledging the deep rooted problems that have allowed this violence to persist.

I have attached a poster idea with the QR code that I wish to be represented. The poster needs to be eye catchy and acknowledge the power and voice of the indigenous women. The red hand has been used by missing and murdered indigenous women as a stark reminder they will not be silenced and is important to encapsulate the struggle. It would be fitting if an indigenous woman would create the poster, but I would settle for a creator that is equally passionate about the subject.
