A Data Entry Operator enters data into a database using a computer and the relevant software as well as updating, verifying, and researching data. He/she also retrieves data when needed and also ensures it is accurate by verifying and reviewing as well as maintaining its confidentiality.
Other duties include creating and updating databases, creating backup files for the data, receiving and preparing source data by sorting and compiling information based on priorities, decide which data needs to be archived, tracking the documents received, providing assistance to other employees on data entry, training and mentoring new data entry operators and other employees, providing assistance to other employees in finding information when needed and distributing reports.
