Solution to automate personalised subscribed email feed with Google
Apps / Drive / Gmail etc.
Overview:
I have customer specific content that I need to automatically send in
emails at pre-set times periodically throughout the day.
Components:
A series of HTML and or plain text files on Google Drive
A co-ordinating Google Sheet which will contain amongst other things:
- Send date & time / send Yes/No flag
- Client email address
- Email subject
- Google Drive File ID (or whatever is required to identify the
content to be sent)
- Progress / Log
Script 1: Scheduled process to query the sheet and send HTML or plain
text emails via Gmail using the body contained in the referenced file.
Script 2: Manually triggered process to upload HTML or Text files
containing email body per customer per date
Other details:
I have a manual process currently with no automation. I have the
customer specific email body content that needs to be sent and this
can be generated for the next x days / months. I plan to generate
these files as new clients come on-board, and re-generate then as
changes are required. The upload script should facilitate the
uploading of these files to the client folder, maintaining the
reference integrity for later sending. I would expect basic logging,
resuming, error handling and summary reporting
