process modelling of heavy metal removal from acid mine drainage in constructed wetlands
$250-750 AUD

Acid mine drainages (AMDs) on mining sites pose a significant pollution threat to the water environment. Constructed wetland is an ecological water pollution control technique that has the potential to be used on remote mining sites, to protect surface and ground waters from pollution by the AMDs. Although some studies have been carried out on this topic, significant knowledge gaps remain to be addressed with regard to mechanistic modelling of complex heavy metal removal processes. In this project, you are expected to: (a) develop mathematical models to predict the removal of Mn, Fe in a subsurface flow constructed wetland, and (b) verify the models using data from the literatures
