Assignment criteria:
Part 1: Using your learning or from an experience that you have had in a Child, Family or Youth Service, please answer the following questions, drawing on both national and international literature, and identifying the processes to managing change:
1. Select and area that you believe needed to be changed. Please provide evidence to explain why you have selected this issue with reference to change management and theories.
2. What was the organisational culture?
3. Discuss the steps that need to be taken to effect the change that you have identified.
4. Critically evaluate what can impede the change process within the organisation and how you would overcome this.
Part 2: Using your learning or from an experience that you have had in a Child, Family or Youth Service please outline the governance structure of that organisation, the controls that are in place and the methods used to ensure best practice and quality
Notes:
1. The three learning outcomes to be met are given below. It is useful to place these learning objectives at the top of your written report as you are working on it (not in final draft) to ensure that you are addressing each one.
LO1. Understand key challenges for leaders in organisations and comprehend the interrelationships between policy, culture and society, both nationally and internationally.
LO2. Assess differing approaches to managing change in an organisation and select the method most suited to a particular scenario.
LO3. Explore the principles and theories of corporate governance and how they apply to child/youth and family organisations, both for and not-for profit.
2. The assignment – there are two parts to the assignment, both written.
3. Word count of Part 1: 2250-2750; Part 2 1250-1750
4. Value: 60% is for Part 1; .40% for Part 2
5. Format for the written report:
a. Typed in either Times New Roman or Ariel font
b. 12 pt size
c. 1.5 line spacing
d. Fully referenced throughout (note college guideline)
e. Accompanied by a detailed reference page. The referencing must be in accordance with ‘Credit where Credit is Due’.
f. Written in a discursive, formal tone. Avoid being subjective, using colloquialisms, broad generalisations and slang.
g. Presented with a title page which includes the title, the student’s name, student number, date of submission and the word count. The word count excludes the reference page.
h. Include an introduction, body and conclusion.
i. Written in an elegant style, with a good standard of grammar, no contracted words eg., did not must be used rather than didn’t etc.
6. The assignment must be positioned in a theoretical framework, work from best practice principles and take a multi-perspective approach.
