I have a small online videogame store written in Perl with some elements of Javascript and mySQL database. Basically it's one front page that shows the list of available games and has HTML controls for search and sorting. The store is fully functional but the design is crude and apparently it doesn't make a good impressions on visitors. Currently the store has many visitors but few buyers, despite good title selection and low prices (and I should stress that it's perfectly legit).

I need you to create an original design of the front page that would look trustworthy to clients, and as cool as video game lovers expect a video game store to be. There should be a convenient place for elements that allow the user to make selections, search, and sort, and ample space to show the results (the list of games, each entry with a small picture, title, price, and so on). At this stage I don't want you to change the existing functionality. I simply want the existing site to look cool. The reason is that I don't have much money to invest in design before the store starts to generate profit.

If you do this small job well and more people start to buy from the store, there will be more jobs for you (naturally I'll want to continue working with the person who did the original design). I'd want you to do one small, easy to complete task at a time, then see how it worked, then continue with the next step. For example, the next task might be to create an alternative front page optimized for viewing on smartphones (you DON'T have to do that now). I prefer to do Perl, mySQL, and basic HTML myself. I'll need you to do design, graphics, advanced HTML, CSS, Javascript, maybe jQuery. The more money the store makes thanks to your design, the more money I'll be able to afford to pay you to continue the good work. And when it's finished I still may need you for maintenance or occasional improvements.

  As the 960 grid is used in design you just have to use "Bootstrap" framework for fronted and you will get the mobile responsive store.

One more thing I should have said earlier: most game icons (pictures that show appear next to the game's title) have horizontal layout, size 292x136 (it could be scaled down, of course). Hope this helps.

Yes, I need your design to be implemented in html/css/js code. The stress though is on design because I can do html/css/js - maybe not as well as you can, but still - but I suck at design. I made a functioning web store but I can't make it pretty. That's what I need you for. Thanks.
