Hi everyone, we are looking for a graphics designer to create card templates and artwork for our upcoming card and dice game ‘Tiny Gladiators’. This competition is for the creation of 3 cards for the game; a Character Card, An Equipment Card and an Ability Card.

The style of the game art is ‘Chibi’, a Japanese, cute and colourful style with exaggerated facial expressions and large heads. For reference to what we are after for this game, I would google terms like ‘Chibi Warrior’ and ‘Chibi Fantasy Character’. The theme of the game is that each player is a gladiator in a gladiator ring fighting for fame and fortune.

The cards have the following size requirements:
Height = 1050 pixels
Width = 750 pixels

Deliverables for this project include full size .png files as well as all associated graphic design files (photoshop, illustrator etc.).
We also want to note that there are a total of 67 different cards in our game and we will eventually be looking for a graphics designer to create the designs for all of these cards as well as associated graphics like a logo, banner ads and various other graphics.

Character Card – The Rogue:
Character cards are one of the most important aspects of Tiny Gladiators. Each player picks a character at the start of the game and keeps the card with the throughout the game. Character cards contain 6 important aspects:
1) The name of the character (in this case ‘The Rogue’)
2) Graphic of the character (chibi design)
3) Life symbol indicating how many life the character has (single digit)
4) Armour symbol indicating how much armour the character has (single digit)
5) Starting Ability Cards Symbol indicating how many Ability Cards the character starts with (single digit)
6) Space to write special rule (the Rogue’s special ability is to upgrade his/her dice if their opponent has more than or equal to 4 ability cards in their hand)

Equipment Card – Full Plate Armour:
Equipment cards can be purchased throughout the game and are an essential aspect of Tiny Gladiators. Equipment cards are purchased using ‘Applause’ which is gained in various ways throughout the game. Equipment cards contain 6 important aspects:
1) The name of the equipment (in this case ‘Full Plate Armour’)
2) Graphic of the equipment (cartoon style matching the chibi style of the characters)
3) Applause cost of the equipment (single digit)
4) Type of dice (D6, D8, D10 etc.) the equipment is associated with (in this case a D10 dice)
5) Equipment type symbol (in this case a ‘Body Armour’)
6) Space to write special rule (Full Plate Armour gives the character 2 armour on a roll of 8)

Ability Card – Adrenaline:
Ability cards are used throughout the game to change the outcome of a dice roll. Ability cards refer to actions the character takes and will need some creative thinking to come up with relevant graphics. Ability cards contain only 3 important aspects:
1) The name of the ability (in this case ‘Adrenaline’)
2) Graphic of the ability (cartoon style matching the chibi style of the characters)
3) Space to write special rule (Adrenaline lets you add +1 to all your dice rolls)

This competition will be awarded to the freelancer who can create card designs that are beautiful, functional and easy to read/understand.

Some design ideas we know we want to incorporate into our cards include:
- Large, colourful graphics dominating the card design
- Key card information that is easy to read and stands out
- Creative, professional looking and interesting card layouts
- A complete product that has a consistent style reflective of the overall Chibi style of the game's characters

  Please note that this design is horrible and was put together in 10 minutes. We are not looking for something similar to this. For examples of other card games whose style we like I would do a quick google search for '7 Wonders' or 'Dominion'. Of course, the actual style of the images need to be different and in line with the Chibi style and gladiator theme

We are also very likely to use the same graphics designer for the remaining cards however we cannot make any promises as it depends on the designers cost and availability as well as our overall satisfaction with the winning entry (the $120 is guaranteed to be rewarded to the best entry even if we are not quite satisfied enough with their entry to commission them for the entire game)
