I want to get a transcription of some numbers from old newspapers. I have already scanned the relevant portions of the newspapers, so I have all the relevant files in PDF format.
I'm attaching a sample of one page (19260114). Each page, like the one attached, will contain two tables.
One of the tables contains futures prices (and typically is titled "grains in all markets", though in this particular case the table has no title). In this PDF, it's the one on the left). From that table, I need to get the first 4 numbers for Wheat and Corn, only for the rows that start with "Chi".
The other table is titled "Bids and Offers". For that table, I need to get the two columns labeled "Close" (for both bids and offers), again only for Wheat and Corn.
The second file (19260114_annotated) highlights which numbers I will need from the table (I will need to also keep some headers, like whether it is wheat or corn, the dates, etc). As you can see, for any given table it's not a lot of numbers, but it is very specific ones. Also, they need to be transcribed carefully because they are in a format with fractions, like 3 2/3, so both the integer and the fraction need to be transcribed separately.
I will have around 3000 files like these that need to be transcribed. Once the job is allocated, I will give more precise instructions on exactly what on the page to report and how. I also have prepared an excel template file where these numbers can be transcribed into.
