Cake PHP site migration from 1.1 to 2.x

I have a small site that was build in CakePHP 1.1 which breaks when I upgrade to php [url removed, login to view] on the server. My understanding is that Cake 1.1 is not supported past php 5.2.x so the site will need to upgraded to the latest Cake version to get it to work. Also, the site uses sqlite db - would it be advisable (or possible) to migrate this to a MySql db instead?
