I originally had this app made for the iPhone and was disappointed by the limitations of Apple. I'd like to switch gears and use Android. Please read the project description and provide your bid. Time is not a factor, just professionalism. Here is the project:
Developers, I'm looking for someone to build an application to assist me with my work. I'm a college football coach and recruit many thousands of athletes. I'd like a way of sending texts directly from my Android phone that will go to very large groups of recruits, merging in some variables (like their first name), have it not come up as a group text, and have it come from my phone number so they can easily reply. Example:
I select a group to send it to, type in "Hey, [first name], how was your game last night? We've still got you on our board as a top [position]." And 2,048 different recruits think I've sent them a personalized individual text.
I'd like it to use a spreadsheet to pull data from, that way I can quickly edit it. I need the spreadsheet to be something I can easily edit on my PC or Mac. Excel or whatever free program you think is best. Our first version of this used Google Docs.
The spreadsheet only needs 5 columns: First Name, Last Name, Cell Number, Position, and Status. Status will come in handy in a second. The possible entries for Status should be Prospect, Active, Incomplete, Complete, and Accepted.
Functionality:
-I open the app
-I select the spreadsheet file and it loads.
-There is a way to select who I'd like to text. I select from the "Status" options of Prospect, Active, Incomplete, Complete, or Accepted. "All" should also be an option.
-There is a box for me to enter the text.
-There is an easy way of quickly inserting the variables [first name], [last name], and [position] into the text box.
-Send button
-Each recipient receives a text from my phone, from my phone number, that has the variable spots filled in with data pulled from his row in the spreadsheet, and each text is individual so as to not be a group msg.
