Target platforms: Android + iOS
1. Rendering the web interface (or a close approximation of it)
The web interface is an HTML5 “single page application” that runs AngularJS with some Jquery, it consists of a grid of articles.
The server side has a RESTful API used by Angular to populate the grid and perform actions such as liking an article, commenting on an article, reposting articles (locally to the site), searching articles and other functions.
Currently the web interface will respond to screen size and renders a suitable display on mobile devices.
Users can register and login to the site, once logged in they can add articles and modify their profiles (including set an avatar image, bio text, and adjust other settings).
Weather to use the existing website directly in a browser interface within the app or to use the RESTful API to render an interface is to be considered / discussed. See also further requirements.
2. Push notifications
From time to time our server will generate various types of notifications and push them to the users. The mobiles notification system should be used to alert the user of these.
Users will have the option to switch these notifications off, or to limit when they get these notifications on their devices to specific times of the day. (eg between 8am and 8pm)
The device will always accept the notifications but will determine when it alerts the user based on their settings.
Notifications will consist of a small number of text fields.
3. Sharing to other apps.
Sharing of articles to other applications should be an option.
Sharing will be similar to other systems, where the shared text will be pre-populated with some article information (eg. Article Title and URL link)
4. Posting new articles
When a user posts an article from the app the users location should be an option to add to the post information.
